The Whitewright Martial Arts Center is pleased to announce the promotion of Dylan Zavala to First Yellow belt in Taekwondo. His test was performed on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026 at 9AM and he performed excellently. His techniques were strong and correct. He had very good focus and showed great respect for the members of the review board. He had trained long hours to achieve this rank. There were five black belts on the review board including myself and we all agreed that his test was the best yellow belt test performance that we had seen in a very long time. The reviewers from left to right were: Lorie Stacey, 2nd degree black belt, Master Barb Norrell, fifth degree black belt, myself, Master Roger Howe, sixth degree black belt, Jimmy Wortham, second degree black belt and River Diehl, first degree black belt. If he continues down the path of Taekwondo, he will continue to increase his skills and become stronger in the martial art. When you see him, please congratulate him on his promotion.
