Hello from The Whitewright Martial Art Center located at 108 W. Grand St, Whitewright, Texas where we teach Traditional Korean TaeKwonDo and Chinese Tai Chi. We are located in Grayson County, Texas approximately twenty miles east of Sherman. We have been going quite well these past few weeks with some new students and working with the more experienced ones. We are preparing Barb Norrell for her fifth degree black belt for which she will test on Sept. 21 of this year. This will officially earn her the title of Master. The test will not be easy as none of the tests I give are. We are also working with Bo LaRoe for his first blue belt. This one, too, is a milestone for he will have to display all of the techniques that he has learned from day one as well as spar for five minutes without a break. For both of these tests there will also be board breaking. I plan on having him test sometime in August. If not then, I will have him test in Sept. along with Barb. As usual, my school is open for anyone to come and watch a class to see TaeKwonDo in action. You might decide to actually take a free class. The class times are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 PM and another class at 7:10 PM.

Now, onto Tai Chi. We have a new student who is performing quite well with the techniques that we do there. We do practice Tai Chi slowly to help develop focus, balance, coordination and muscle tone. It might look easy, but once you get into it you see how much you actually work. We do not have promotion tests as we do in TaeKwonDo because we are working not only on self defense but also on physical fitness. The class times for Tai Chi are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 2:00 PM and as with TaeKwonDo, the public is invited to come and watch what we do. I hope this finds everyone well and will look forward to seeing you come, observe and maybe take a free class.
