Hello. This is the blog for Whitewright Martial Arts for the week ending May 26, 2024. Specializing in Korean TaeKwonDo and Chinese Tai Chi. We are at 108 W. Grand in Whitewright. It’s been a few weeks before I’ve been able to get back to you, but here’s what has been happening thus far. We have a few new white belts who are excited to learn the martial art of TaeKwonDo. We are getting Bo LaRoe and Shannon Long ready for their next rank, which is first stripe blue belt. Except for brown belt, this is the hardest one they will take. Thus far everything has been focused on technique and developing stamina. This one will demonstrate both. Fourth degree black belt Barb Norrell is preparing for her fifth degree black belt on which she will be tested on Sept 21. This is also a tough one because it would then promote her to Master. As I said, this is also a tough one. The Tai Chi classes have been going well. Not everyone has been able to make it for every class, but we are now performing the Qi Gong Tai Chi form in its entirety as much as I had been able to learn it before my instructor started doing only virtual classes due to the Covid pandemic and I switched to training in Sherman learning the Yang form. Once we have the Qi Gong form down pretty well, I’ll start introducing the Yang form in addition to what we have already done. I’ve been doing that one for about four years now and am able to complete it. The form usually takes between 15 and 20 minutes from start to finish. Being Sunday night, now getting ready for this next week. No Tai Chi class in Sherman on Monday due to the holiday, but I still will have my studio open for both Tai Chi and TaeKwonDo this afternoon and evening. As stated before, my studio is open to any and all who wish to come in and observe a class. If you wish to take a class, I give the first one for free. The studio is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday with Tai Chi class at 2 PM and TaeKwonDo at 6 and 7:10 PM. So, just come on in. I hope all are well. Have a great week.
