Hello, everyone and greetings from Master Roger Howe and the Whitewright Martial Arts Center located at 108 W. Grand in Whitewright, specializing in Traditional Korean TaeKwonDo and Chinese Tai Chi. I know it’s been a while since the last post but I was overseas visiting England for about three weeks. But, now I’m back and getting things back on schedule. Prior to my leaving we had a promotion test for fourth degree Barb Norrell to advance her to fifth degree, masters rank. She passed with flying colors and is now Master Barb Norrell. She performed the forms and techniques that were required plus performed with two weapons, the bo staff and sword. While I was away, she conducted classes for me which kept the continuation of training going for the students. I do so appreciate her doing that while I was gone. What will be happening in the near future is the Christmas Parade here in Whitewright on Dec. 7 and the Martial Arts Center will have a “float” in the parade. Float is in quotes because basically it will be us on a flatbed trailer towed by a pickup truck. Nowhere near the types of floats you would see in the Rose Bowl Parade staged in Pasadena, California. Those floats are very pretty but are quite intricate and take months to construct. The parade starts at 10:00 AM at the Elementary school on the south side of Whitewright where it will proceed north up Bond street, then west down Grand street and then proceed south to the elementary school gymnasium where there will be picture taking, Santa, games and snacks. The news now for the Martial Arts Center will be that we will have promotion tests for two students going for their next colored belt ranks and those tests will be held at the Martial Arts Center shortly after the parade. We are inviting one and all to come and observe these tests for these students have worked long and hard to get where they are. Again, everyone is invited to come and watch. These students will demonstrate their basic TaeKwonDo techniques as well as self-defense and demonstrate their power skills. It will be good and we hope to see you there. Just come by the Martial Arts Center shortly after the parade and the doors will be open. Have a great week and take care.
